CoinGeek’s Nidhi Arora talks to Aequantium Founder Geoffrey Hammond on #CGBackstage to discuss about his first time attending the #CGNewYork conference and introduce Aequantium LLC, a startup futures fund operator. In this interview, Hammond explains how futures are exchange-traded contracts settled to the prices of different commodities like traditionally agricultural commodities such as corn, soybeans, wheat, and precious metals. The company is a fund manager that can operate one or more different commodity pools and futures funds.
The talk also focused on the Aequantium Volatility Fund which issues #BSV tokens with the tokenized protocol. “I was inspired by hearing about NFTs. Well, why don’t I sell a fungible token based upon the participation and interest in the Aequantium Volatility Arbitrage Fund. So I started looking for different developers that would be able to produce this type of token,” Hammond said.
Aequantium enables the issuance of tokens to investors representing futures participation. In this way, tokens can be used within the traditional trading framework while being backed by the secure and auditable record of the #BSV ledger.
